How it all began

A small paradise at Lake Achensee

In 1935, when Ernst Rieser's grandparents bought the Oberhaushof in Pertisau, they immediately had a clear vision for it: one should feel at home here. With great foresight, first Ernst's grandparents and then his parents built a holiday resort that has become a small paradise. The gorgeous Lake Achensee closeby and the magnificent mountain scenery surrounding it surely contribute to this. Throughout the years, the structure has been developed with great dedication to meet the ever-changing needs of the resort's guests. The most recent renovation, done in 2022, brought a breath of fresh air to both the appearance and the facilities of the hotel.

The Rieser through the years
1935-59

1935: Purchase of the Oberhaushof farm by Ernst Rieser's grandparents.

1952: Construction of the first guest rooms with a total of approx. 70 beds.

All rooms had running hot and cold water; three rooms even had a private bathtub. The latter were not very popular, as they were 3 Schilling more expensive than the other rooms.

1953: Construction of the dining hall.

1955: Opening of the "Achenseekeller" with live music.

1956: Expansion of the kitchen.

1959: Installation of central heating and opening of the first winter season on December 15.

1959: Grand New Year’s Eve ball on December 31.

1960-71

1964: Relocation of the cattle barn, which until then had still been located in the rear part of the house.

1966: Construction of the bowling alley and expansion of the dining hall.

1971: Demolition of the old barn building. In its place, the main building is constructed, including reception, lobby, bar, indoor pool, sauna, fitness room, and around 30 guest rooms which were exceptionally spacious for that time.
In the following year, the new hotel begins operation.

1972-78

1972: Commissioning of the new main building.

1973: Purchase of Hotel Buchau in Maurach.

Especially noteworthy is the incredibly short construction time with the start on September 22nd, and completion by December 18th, 1978.

1980-83

1980: Construction of a new kitchen and storage rooms.

1983: Purchase of the sports center (approx. 14,000 m²) with a total of 8 tennis courts (6 outdoor and 2 indoor) and the mini-golf course.
